FAQ
Straight answers, no exaggeration.
Grounded in the product documentation. Where something is unknown, the answer says so.
Silent Tears is a Windows-focused computer defense desktop application. It combines monitoring, security detections, investigation context, and controlled response workflows in one interface, and it is honest about what it can and cannot see.
No. It is not positioned as a replacement for antivirus, endpoint detection and response (EDR), or professional security services. It is a complementary visibility and investigation tool for your own Windows PC.
Not yet. The current release configuration reports a pre-release state, so no public download is listed. A download will appear only once a verified release artifact and its release information are available. See the download page for the current status.
Its documented AEGIS design does not send telemetry to a cloud AI API and does not perform remote reputation lookups. The optional language model is intended to run locally through Ollama on 127.0.0.1 when enabled and configured. Optional integrations outside AEGIS, such as Telegram notifications, are separate and are only active if you enable them.
No. Documented deterministic rules decide risk levels, confidence, status verdicts, and proposed actions. The optional model has constrained roles: it may narrate an already-decided report or select one read-only tool, and it cannot independently execute destructive actions.
No. Detection coverage is limited by the signals available, permissions, sampling, and detector logic. Findings should be read together with their evidence and stated uncertainty, and an absence of findings is not proof that a system is clean.
No. A beacon-like pattern is a pattern that may warrant investigation. Legitimate updates, cloud sync, and time services can produce regular traffic too. The verdict is deliberately worded as "beacon-like pattern", not as a confirmed command-and-control channel.
Some Windows locations may be inaccessible due to permissions or operating-system restrictions. Incomplete results are reported as incomplete and must not be interpreted as proof that the system is clean.
No. The current documentation states that the desktop interface is Indonesian. This website is English-first; the documentation notes the application's UI language accurately.
A dedicated public vulnerability-reporting channel has not been published yet. Please do not disclose details publicly before a verified reporting channel is announced. This site does not invent a contact destination.
